What’s wrong with stomach pain in early pregnancy

Early stomach pain (abdominal pain) in pregnant women can be caused by both physiologic and pathologic reasons, such as spontaneous abortion, ectopic pregnancy, acute appendicitis and so on.
1. Physiological causes: pregnant women in early pregnancy will have embryo implantation in the uterus, estrogen increase and other changes, which can cause the patient to have uterine contraction pain or discomfort without uterine bleeding, abdominal distension and so on.
2. Pathologic causes:
(1) Spontaneous abortion: The termination of pregnancy when the embryo or fetus is not yet viable due to non-artificial factors is called spontaneous abortion. Chromosomal abnormality of the embryo or fetus, abnormal health status of the mother, chromosomal abnormality of the father’s sperm, and other causes can cause spontaneous abortion. The main manifestations are vaginal bleeding and abdominal pain, characterized by paroxysmal crushing pain in the central part of the lower abdomen.
(2) Ectopic pregnancy: Fertilized eggs that settle outside the uterine cavity are called ectopic pregnancies, also known as ectopic pregnancies. The most common is tubal pregnancy, when tubal pregnancy rupture, miscarriage and other conditions, the patient can appear abdominal pain and vaginal bleeding, mostly unilateral lower abdominal sudden tear-like pain.
(3) Acute appendicitis: pregnant women can also be caused by acute appendicitis and abdominal pain, the pain can start from the epigastrium through the umbilicus turnover to the right lower abdomen, and fever can occur. However, the symptoms of abdominal pain in pregnant women are less obvious than in normal people.
If abdominal pain occurs in the early stage of pregnancy, it is necessary to go to the hospital as soon as possible, and the doctor will formulate an individualized diagnosis and treatment plan according to the specific condition.
