Bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy is an absolute indication for IVF, which can be performed by egg retrieval, in vitro culture of fertilized eggs, and transfer of the cultured embryos into the uterine cavity to facilitate pregnancy. Before ovulation, ovarian function is evaluated and the male partner’s semen is assessed to determine whether to do first-generation IVF, second-generation IVF or third-generation IVF, with different treatment options for different groups of people. First-generation IVF is mainly for female causes. When bilateral tubal resection is done, if combined with severe semen problems of the male partner, second-generation IVF can be used to solve the problem; if chromosomal and genetic disorders are present, third-generation IVF can be used to help conception.
