Verbena officinalis has the function of promoting blood circulation, dissipating blood stasis and inducing diuresis; Plantago ovata has the function of clearing away heat, inducing diuresis and cooling the blood; Jin Nei Jin has the function of astringing spermatozoa and stopping ejaculation (consolidating semen and preventing spermatorrhea), eliminating food and strengthening the stomach, and so on. The three are used in soup, with the effect of diuresis, lymphatic drainage, detoxification, can be used for edema, gonorrhea (increased urination, drenching and pain), carbuncle and swelling, etc., and should be used in accordance with the doctor’s instructions.
Verbena officinalis is effective in promoting blood circulation, dispersing blood stasis, inducing diuresis, relieving yellowish, detoxifying and stopping malaria. It can be used for edema and urination, summer dampness and diarrhea, hot shower (burning stinging pain when urinating, accompanied by urinary frequency and urgency, abdominal traction discomfort), astringent pain, vomiting blood, nosebleed, phlegm-heat cough, carbuncle, swelling, sores and poison. Psyllium is contraindicated in those who are deficient in essence.
The effects of Chicken Nei Jin are astringent to stop spermatorrhea, eliminating food to strengthen the stomach, and clearing gonorrhea to dissolve stones. It is used in treating food stagnation, vomiting, diarrhea and dysentery, lithuria (discharge of gravel during urination, or sudden interruption of urination, pain in the urethra and intolerable pain in the lower back and abdomen), astringent pain, dysuria, spermatorrhea, and bilious distension and coercive pain (pain in the area of coercion and ribs). People with spleen deficiency without stagnation should be cautious in taking Chicken Nei Jin.
