What to do if your baby has cross-eye

Infants with crossed eyes can improve their symptoms by strengthening care in the early stage. If the result is not good, they can receive treatments such as optometry, covering the healthy eye, synophthalmos training and surgery in the later stage.
1. Enhanced care: Parents should be careful not to set up bowls and objects in the air near the baby’s cradle, the best distance is 1.5 meters away. Try not to let the baby lie in the cradle for a long time, and let the child move appropriately at intervals to increase the frequency of eyeball rotation. Parents try not to let the child maintain a long time side to side sleep position.
2. Optometry: If the above methods do not improve the condition of infantile cross-eye, the child can receive optometry treatment after the age of 3~5 years. Corrective eyeglasses can improve the condition.
3. Covering the healthy eye: If the refractive level of both eyes is too different, or if one eye is hyperopic and has poor visual acuity, you can consider covering the monitoring eye, so that the affected eye can be stimulated by more light to promote the development of the eye.
4. Synoptic training: Let the child go to the hospital for stereoscopic or synoptic training, which can help to restore vision.
5. Surgery: If the above methods still can’t improve the condition of baby’s eyes, you can consider undergoing surgery to correct the vision.
There are other clinical treatments available for babies with crossed eyes. It is recommended to go to the ophthalmology department of a hospital and receive treatment under the guidance of a professional doctor.
