The eyes are very well understood in Chinese medicine. Some doctrines, for example, are very clear about the positioning of the eyes, such as the Tibetan Elephant Doctrine, which holds that the eyes dominate the liver, and the Meridian Doctrine, which holds that many meridians in the human body originate in the eyes, such as the Foot Yangming Stomach Meridian and the Hand Yangming Large Intestine Meridian, and some other meridians, such as the Bladder Meridian, all originate in and around the eyes. In TCM theory, there is a doctrine of the five chakras of the eyes, in which all five organs are reflected in the eyes. Therefore, the position of the eyes in TCM is very important, and by observing and diagnosing them, many diseases can be clarified and can also help treat many diseases. Personally, I believe that by doing eye exercises or toning the eyes, you can significantly improve the five organs of the body, especially for the liver, which is very beneficial.
