Is submandibular lymphadenitis serious?

Clinical submandibular lymphadenitis is usually not serious, mainly after a cold, infection can appear under the jaw nodule-like hard material, some patients will have local skin redness, swelling, pressure pain, less severe patients can generally be self-healing. Some of them are accompanied by fever, headache and other systemic inflammatory manifestations. Through timely treatment with infusion and oral antibacterial drugs, the symptoms can be relieved and the redness, swelling and pain can subside. If the inflammation is not well controlled, it may spread to the surrounding tissues and may develop into cellulitis or even abscesses and sepsis. When lymphadenitis is diagnosed, it can be treated with antibacterial medication, and localized hot compresses and infrared physical therapy can be given. Usually the symptoms of lymphadenitis will disappear or get better in a week or so. If there is purulent lymphadenitis, it can only be cured by surgical abscess incision and drainage surgery, which also requires regular drug changes and a longer healing time.
