The most common facial manifestation of hypothyroidism is mucinous edema, both in women and men, called mucinous edema face. In women, hypothyroidism mostly shows a pale yellow face, no blood, swollen eyelids, appearing small eyes, swollen lips, and lips without blood color, unlike the usual pink lips. This is mainly due to the mucus produced by the subcutaneous tissues, and the mucus absorbs water and shows a round face, pale yellow, swollen lips, swollen eyelids, and the whole face looks like a disc, making the person look unhinged. The appearance of the above face indicates that the patient’s hypothyroidism is very serious, because patients with mild hypothyroidism usually do not appear mucus edema face, so if the above mucus edema face appears, you must promptly or remind them to go to the hospital to check the thyroid level.
