What is prostate electrosurgery?

Electro-prostatectomy, or transurethral resection of the prostate, is a surgical procedure for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia. Electro-prostatectomy, is currently the most commonly used surgical procedure for the treatment of BPH. The procedure is performed by passing through the urethra into the prostate, removing and flushing out the enlarged prostate tissue with an electric knife, as well as electrocoagulation to stop bleeding. The advantages of this procedure are that it is non-open, i.e., there is no scarring on the patient’s body after the operation; the operation takes less time, i.e., the electrosurgery reaches the prostate tissue directly through the electrosurgical scope and avoids incision and suture of the tissue to shorten the operation time; the operation is less traumatic; and it can be repeated, i.e., electrosurgical treatment can be repeated for those who have relapsed or whose prostate gland is too enlarged. If there is a need for prostatectomy, it is recommended to have reasonable treatment under the guidance of professional doctors in regular hospitals.
