Newborns with severe red buttocks and broken skin are often too moist on the buttocks for long periods of time and need to be treated with frequent diaper changes, topical oxygen therapy, use of skin protection film, and application of erythromycin ointment. Neonatal red buttocks, also known as diaper dermatitis, is a common skin damage disease in the neonatal period, manifested as perianal, perineal and inguinal skin redness, vesicles, ulcers, accompanied by scattered red maculopapular rash. The disease is caused by the diaper not being changed in time and the buttocks being too wet for a long time. Treatment is as follows. 1. Change diapers frequently: change diapers after each bowel movement, wash the buttocks with warm water and dry with cotton towel to keep the skin clean and dry. 2. Local oxygen therapy: blowing the buttocks with oxygen can promote local vasodilatation and increase the oxygen supply to form a high oxygen environment in the wound, which is conducive to wound repair. 3. Use skin protection film: it is a kind of liquid dressing, coated on the skin to form a colorless, waterproof, anti-friction protective film to avoid bacterial infection. 4. Medication: Topical glycerin lotion is used when redness and swelling are obvious. All of the above drugs should be used under the guidance of a doctor, avoid self-medication. If your newborn’s red buttocks have severe skin breakdown and are accompanied by fever, drowsiness and depression, please seek medical advice from a specialist for evaluation and treatment.
