There is no need for an empty stomach to have a nasoscopy. There are two types of nasoscopes: a hard one called a nasopharyngoscope, which examines the nasal passages and nasopharynx, and a soft one, such as a fiberoptic laryngoscope or an electronic fiberoptic laryngoscope. Usually, before the examination is done, a local anesthetic medication is given to spray the nose, cotton pads containing local anesthetic are placed in the nose, and the mouth is sprayed with a bit of anesthetic. If the nasal endoscopy is done alone, the mouth can be sprayed without medication and it is usually done without pain. Through the examination of nasal endoscopy and fiberoptic electronic laryngoscope, all the structures of the nasal cavity can be seen, and the extent of the lesion can be clarified by whether the nasopharynx is smooth or not as well as the whole condition of the pharynx and larynx, and then the treatment can be carried out.
