Because H. pylori infection is an important factor in the pathogenesis of peptic ulcers, most patients do not experience significant symptoms after infection, but some patients can develop diseases such as duodenal ulcers, which in turn may manifest as right upper abdominal pain. If a person with right abdominal pain suspects they have a digestive problem, they may be tested for H. pylori.
