Old people often say “more fingers, more happiness”, more fingers should be surgically removed or not?

The phrase “Many Fingers, Many Fortunes” was originally “Many Sons, Many Fortunes”, which was misrepresented due to the similarity of the sounds of “son” and “finger”. In fact, in my opinion, there is no theoretical basis for this saying, so we should not interpret it as correct. Polydactyly is a common congenital hand deformity, which not only affects the aesthetics of the hand, but also affects the function of the hand. If the child is introverted, the presence of polydactyly may also affect the child’s mental health, and the child’s choice of interest, occupation, and job may also be limited to a certain extent. Therefore, from a long-term perspective, we would recommend the child to have the surgery as early as possible. When is the right time? As long as the child is in good health, has no other illnesses, and weighs 6kg, he or she is usually ready for surgery at around three to six months. At this time, the child’s digits are smaller and less traumatized, which will give him or her an advantage in terms of appearance over a larger child. Most importantly, children around three to six months old do not have their own social circles or the pressure of school, and will not have memories that are characteristic of polydactyly, and there is no delay in learning, which minimizes the impact of polydactyly on the child, making it a better time for surgery.
