Mouth Breathing Correction Method

Corrective methods for mouth breathing mainly include etiologic treatment, improvement of malocclusion, orthodontic treatment, functional training and so on.
1. Etiological treatment: For patients with airway obstruction caused by oversized adenoids and tonsils, adenoids and tonsils can be removed through adenoid and tonsil removal to completely open up the upper airway and remove the airway obstruction sites. For patients with recurrent rhinitis and allergic rhinitis but normal tonsils and adenoids, conservative treatment can be the first choice.
2. Improvement of deformed bite and jaw relationship: wear oral orthodontic appliances to correct the abnormal bite and jaw relationship.
3. Orthodontic treatment: For children with oral respiration during the growth and development period, orthodontic treatment can change the morphology of the stomatognathic system to a certain extent and improve the ventilation function.
4. Functional training: healthy perioral muscle function can be obtained through daily facial muscle functional training, maintaining long-term stable results. Specific methods include lip muscle training (e.g., lip bursting training, cheek puffing training, noodle eating training, etc.), tongue muscle training (practicing keeping the tongue in its normal position close to the palate while relaxing the tongue muscles), and respiratory training (using abdominal breathing to relax).
Mouth breathing is an incorrect way of breathing, if you find the phenomenon of mouth breathing in your life, you must correct it in time. Especially for children in their growth period, mouth breathing should be prevented at an early stage and a reasonable diagnosis and treatment plan should be adopted to make children grow up healthily.
