There is no such thing as the most important test for checking the liver; different tests can reflect different problems. Laboratory tests, imaging tests, pathologic tests and other tests can be used to check the liver comprehensively. 1. Laboratory tests: mainly check five liver function tests, including aminotransferases, total bilirubin, serum proteins, cholinesterase and so on, to confirm whether the liver function is normal or not; tumor markers such as carcinoembryonic antigen, glycogen antigen alpha-fetoprotein and so on can also be detected for screening of hepatocellular carcinoma. 2. Imaging examination: through color ultrasound, CT or MRI, one can see the size and shape of the liver, the width of portal vein and whether there is any occupation in the liver. 3. Pathological examination: if there is space occupation in the liver after the above examination, patients can undergo liver puncture biopsy, and the tissues will be examined pathologically after the operation to determine whether there is liver cancer. Liver examination can be carried out under the guidance of doctors, and it is recommended to carry out targeted treatment in time if there is any problem in the examination of the liver.
