The TCM diagnosis of freckles is Yin deficiency and fire exuberance, blood deficiency and wind generation (blood deficiency, loss of nourishment of sinews and veins causing wind movement), etc., which can be treated with Zhi Bai Di Huang Wan, Si Wu Tang and Xiao Feng San respectively.
1. Yin deficiency and fire: manifested as freckles on the face, accompanied by dizziness and lumbago, tinnitus, paroxysmal fear of heat, self-consciousness, hot hands and feet, irritability, insomnia, dreaming and so on. It can be treated with Zhi Bai Di Huang Wan plus reduction.
2. Blood deficiency generates wind: manifested as long freckles on the face, accompanied by localized itchiness of freckles, dizziness, body fatigue, pale white tongue, thin white tongue coating, and so on. It can be treated with Four Substance Soup combined with the addition and subtraction of Wind Dispelling Powder.
3. Qi deficiency and blood stasis: manifested by darker facial freckles, accompanied by fatigue (mental exhaustion and physical weakness), chest tightness, lack of appetite, dizziness, pale lips, petechiae on the tongue and dark lips. It can be treated by adding and subtracting Tongjiao and Xuebao Tang.
If freckles appear, it is recommended to go to a regular Chinese medicine medical institution and follow the doctor’s prescription for medication, do not use medication without authorization.
