What is gonorrhea?

  Gonorrhea is a sexually transmitted disease (STD) caused by the gonococcus bacterium. The main symptom is a purulent infection of the genital tract of the urinary system and is a highly prevalent STD.  Gonorrhea can be transmitted through sexual intercourse with an infected person and can cause pain and other symptoms in the genital tract. Symptoms vary between men and women due to their different physiological anatomy. In men, symptoms include: swollen testicles that cause more frequent urination than usual, a burning sensation when urinating, and more mucus and pus discharge at the urethra. Women may experience vaginitis, urethritis, abdominal pain, vaginal discomfort, increased leucorrhea, and pain when urinating. Sometimes it can also lead to complications such as gonorrheal proctitis, pharyngitis, gonorrheal conjunctivitis or arthritis.  The best time to treat sexually transmitted diseases is within 2 days after contracting the disease. It is recommended that the earlier the treatment, the better, and to go to a regular hospital to do a microscopic examination of the secretions at the lesion, and drug sensitivity tests, and targeted medication.
