What’s wrong with lying on your back and getting dizzy?

Dizziness in supine position may be related to physiological factors, or it may be caused by cervical spondylosis, benign paroxysmal positional vertigo and other reasons.
1. Physiological factors: If you have not slept well in the recent past, resulting in insufficient sleep, you may experience the phenomenon of supine dizziness, and dizziness may also occur when you are in other positions.
2. Cervical spondylosis: this disease can lead to changes in the normal physiological curvature of the cervical spine, and when lying on the back, if the pillow is not the right height, it will easily lead to stiff and tense neck muscles, which will cause dizziness when the local blood vessels are compressed.
3. Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo: also known as otolithiasis, if you suddenly change your position from the side-lying position to the supine position, due to the change of the head position, it is likely to lead to otoliths dislodged to the semicircular canals, which may cause dizziness.
After excluding physiological factors, patients who will be dizzy when lying on their backs should seek early medical treatment to clarify the cause and give targeted treatment.
