Difference between dry gangrene and wet gangrene

The difference between dry gangrene and wet gangrene lies mainly in the clinical symptoms. Dry gangrene is mainly characterized by the presence of necrotic tissue, blackened and atrophied, accompanied by loss of sensation, but no discharge. In addition to the obvious darkening, whitening, and poor blood flow of the necrotic tissue, wet gangrene also shows obvious secretions, usually a yellowish discharge or a yellowish-white purulent discharge. It may also lead to local soft tissue infection or spread of infection to the surrounding lymphatic vessels, tissues and organs throughout the body, so it is important to seek prompt medical attention for dry gangrene or wet gangrene.
