Idiopathic portal hypertension, can we do TIPS?

TIPS, or transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt, can be used as a treatment for idiopathic portal hypertension.
The full name of TIPS in Chinese is transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt, which belongs to a kind of treatment for portal hypertension. The advantages of TIPS are that it can significantly reduce the pressure of the portal vein and quickly control bleeding, especially for stubborn ascites, TIPS has better efficacy.
TIPS is mainly used for patients with poor liver function, as well as for patients who have failed to undergo surgery such as bypass surgery and shunt surgery, and it can also be used as a preparation for liver transplantation to prevent hemorrhage caused by rupture of esophagogastric fundic varices.
However, TIPS also has its disadvantages, including higher requirements for the operator, and susceptibility to postoperative hepatic encephalopathy and vascular embolism.
For those with idiopathic portal hypertension, treatment should be in accordance with medical advice.
