Prostatitis can be categorized into four types: acute bacterial prostatitis, chronic bacterial prostatitis, chronic prostatitis, and asymptomatic prostatitis. Different types have different symptoms and different treatment methods. 1. Acute bacterial prostatitis: systemic symptoms are sudden onset of fever, chills, fatigue, but also perineum or suprapubic area pressure, urinary frequency, urinary urgency, urethral burning pain and other symptoms. Broad-spectrum antibiotics such as penicillin and third-generation cephalosporins should be injected intravenously immediately. 2. Chronic bacterial prostatitis and chronic prostatitis: patients may experience pelvic pain, frequent urination, urgency, painful urination, decreased libido, erectile dysfunction, anxiety, frequent dizziness, memory loss and other symptoms. Chronic bacterial prostatitis should be based on the results of bacterial culture and drug sensitivity test to choose the appropriate antibiotics. Chronic prostatitis can be treated with lifestyle modification, medication such as oral α-blockers like tamsulosin hydrochloride, and psychotherapy. 3. Asymptomatic prostatitis: no symptoms, no treatment needed.
