Deep cerebral sulcus is commonly a description of the imaging examination, usually suggesting the phenomenon of cerebral cortical surface atrophy; it may be a physiological phenomenon, or it may be the manifestation of certain diseases, such as Alzheimer’s disease, traumatic brain injury, etc., and should be promptly consulted to find out the cause of the disease.
1. Physiological factors: physiological cerebral atrophy refers to the natural aging that occurs with age, that is to say, the brain will atrophy to a certain extent with age, and there is no effective treatment for this type of cerebral atrophy.
2. Pathologic factors:
(1) Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia are caused by gradual damage to brain cells and loss of the ability to communicate with each other, leading to brain atrophy.
(2) Brain tissue damage caused by traumatic brain injury can directly cause brain atrophy, such as the formation of contusion foci, the neuronal cells themselves are already necrotic, and the necrotic portion will be gradually absorbed by the surrounding in the recovery process.
However, it is not excluded that it is caused by other factors. It is suggested that if the physiological reasons are excluded, you should consult the doctor in time, ask the doctor to clarify the cause of the disease, and give targeted treatment.
