Both convulsions and convulsions are involuntary movements. Convulsions are involuntary jerking or strong contractions of generalized or localized skeletal muscle groups, which often cause movement and tonicity of joints. When the contraction of muscle groups is manifested as tonicity and clonus, it is called convulsion. Convulsive manifestations of convulsions are generally generalized and symmetrical, with or without loss of consciousness. 1. Etiology The etiology of convulsions and convulsions can be divided into idiopathic and symptomatic. Idiopathic is often due to congenital brain instability. Symptomatic causes include: (1) brain diseases: including infection, trauma, tumor and vascular diseases, parasitic diseases, etc. (2) Systemic diseases: including infections, poisoning, cardiovascular diseases, metabolic disorders and rheumatic diseases. (3) Neurological disorders. 2. Clinical manifestations Due to different etiologies, the manifestations of convulsions and convulsions are also different. (1) Generalized convulsions: the main manifestation is the skeletal muscle of the whole body, mostly accompanied by loss of consciousness, and may include generalized seizures, syncopal seizures, hysterical seizures, hypocalcemic convulsions, twitchy obscene syndrome and breath-holding syndrome in children. (2) Restricted convulsions: The main manifestation is continuous muscle contraction in one part of the body, mostly seen in the corners of the mouth, eyelids, hands and feet, etc. (3) Concomitant symptoms: Fever, increased blood pressure, meningeal irritation, dilated pupils, tongue bite and severe headache are often present. 4.The main points of consultation When consulting the patient, attention should be paid to the age at which the convulsions and convulsions occurred, the duration of the disease, the trigger of the attack, whether the patient is pregnant, whether the convulsions are generalized or restricted, the nature and the presence of accompanying symptoms. History of brain disease, hysteria, toxic exposure, trauma, etc. should be noted. Children should be asked about the history of delivery and abnormal growth and development.
