If the heel hurts after jumping from a high place, it may have caused a contusion or fracture. You should go to the hospital for an x-ray examination to clarify whether there is a fracture or not, and take targeted treatment according to the results of the examination. Common treatments include plaster treatment and surgical treatment.
1. Contusion: apply cold compresses and bed rest within 72 hours after injury. Cold compresses can help the capillaries in the affected area to contract, reduce the exudation of tissue fluid and reduce swelling and pain. The affected limb can be elevated so that the heel of the foot is higher than the level of the heart, in order to promote the blood flow of the affected area back to the heart and reduce edema. When the pain and swelling are obvious, oral pain medication such as ibuprofen and diclofenac sodium can be taken under doctor’s supervision.
2. Fracture: If there is a fracture without significant displacement, it can be immobilized by plaster and bed rest. In the presence of severe trauma such as comminuted fracture, surgical treatment may be required to promote healing and recovery through incisional reduction and internal fixation.
It is recommended to go to the hospital in time to take pictures of the heel pain after jumping from a high place, and take plaster immobilization, surgery and other treatments as prescribed by the doctor after identifying the cause of the disease.
