Alcohol should not be consumed during root canal treatment to prevent symptoms such as pain and swelling after root canal treatment caused by alcohol consumption.
1. Root canal treatment is one of the conventional treatment modalities in dentistry, which is mainly used to treat dental caries, periodontal diseases caused by pulpitis or periapical periodontitis and other symptoms; the main treatment method is to utilize mechanical or medication to clean the necrotic and inflamed nerves of the teeth in order to reduce inflammation and relieve pain.
2. If you drink alcohol during root canal treatment, it will cause accelerated blood flow and vascular expansion, which will lead to periapical tissue congestion and edema and tooth pain; and during root canal treatment, you will take some anti-inflammatory drugs (such as cephalosporin, metronidazole, etc.) as prescribed by the doctor and you can’t drink alcohol, so as to avoid the adverse reaction between the alcohol and the drugs.
