Fatty liver can be cured

With the expansion of the fatty liver team, people have more and more knowledge about fatty liver, and there are more and more misconceptions about it, even many medical professionals have some misconceptions about it. Some people think that fatty liver is not a disease and does not need treatment, while others know that fatty liver is a disease and needs treatment, but confirm that there is no special medicine for fatty liver and it cannot be cured at all. The former is a “left-leaning” mistake, if you will, while the latter is a “right-leaning” mistake. In fact, both manifestations are due to a lack of proper understanding of fatty liver. The treatment of fatty liver cannot be generalized, so the prognosis of fatty liver cannot be generalized either. Fatty liver is divided into mild, moderate and severe. Generally, in mild and moderate fatty liver, if there is no change in liver function (transaminases) and also metabolic disorders are not obvious, the fatty liver may be well controlled by using only diet, exercise and alcohol cessation, and the liver may even return to normal, i.e., it can be cured; however, in some moderate and severe fatty liver, if there are liver function abnormalities that are obvious, or However, in some moderate to severe cases, if there are significant abnormalities in liver function or metabolic disorders, medication may be needed based on adjusting diet, exercise and alcohol cessation, and if the treatment is regular, most patients may be “cured”. Because fatty liver is a chronic disease, it takes more than one day to get rid of the disease and more than one day to get rid of it, so whether fatty liver can be cured and how effective it is depends on whether the patient can persevere. In addition, if the fatty liver caused by various kinds of hepatotoxic injury can be diagnosed early and treated early, the further development of fatty liver can be stopped and even reversed, such as steatohepatitis, after removing the cause and controlling the original disease, the liver lesion can be reversed. Another example is that for simple alcoholic fatty liver, abstinence from alcohol is absolutely effective and fatty deposits in the liver usually completely subside within weeks or months of abstinence from alcohol. Most patients with drug-related fatty liver can completely normalize the fatty deposits in the liver within 2-3 months after timely discontinuation of the relevant drugs. Therefore, fatty liver is a reversible lesion and can be completely cured by early and effective treatment. If it is allowed to develop, after steatohepatitis develops into cirrhosis, the lesion is no longer reversible and it is difficult to return to normal even with active treatment. Therefore, early detection and timely and effective treatment of fatty liver is very important to improve the prognosis and stop the progression of chronic liver disease.
