The main difference between an enhanced CT and a plain CT is whether or not a contrast agent is used during the examination. Both enhanced CT and plain CT are common imaging tests. During a plain CT, there is usually no need to inject a contrast agent and the CT scan is done directly. Enhanced CT refers to a means of improving diagnostic accuracy by focusing on suspicious areas found on the basis of CT plain scanning after intravenous injection of contrast material. CT examination can only be used as a preliminary judgment of the disease, while enhanced CT examination can be done for further evaluation of the disease, to view the blood vessels, blood perfusion, etc., and to determine the nature and severity of the disease. Although intravenous contrast agents are usually non-toxic, a very small number of people may have allergic reactions to them, and liver and kidney failure also requires caution in performing the test. It is recommended to go to a regular hospital for a comprehensive assessment of the condition, follow the doctor’s instructions to cooperate with the treatment, and choose the appropriate diagnosis and treatment plan to avoid delaying the condition.
