Fenghi Huangqi Tang should be decocted with water, and 1 jujube and 4 slices of ginger should be added to the decoction.
Fenghi Huangqi Tang is from “The Essentials of the Golden Chamber”, composed of Atractylodes macrocephala, Fenghi, Glycyrrhiza glabra, and Astragalus, which has the effect of strengthening the spleen and inducing diuresis, dispelling wind and benefiting the qi, and can be used for wind-dampness with deficiency of the epidermis, or wind-hydration (sudden oedema on the head, face, and limbs) with sweating and malignant winds, dysuria, pain in the limbs and joints, and heaviness and swelling in the body.
It should be noted that Fangji Huangqi Tang is usually taken by decoction, and 1 jujube and 4 slices of ginger should be added to the decoction.
The side effects and contraindications of this formula are not known, and the drug should be used under medical supervision.
