Does extracorporeal lithotripsy have a high success rate

The success rate of extracorporeal lithotripsy is based on the location, size and nature of the stone. The success rate of extracorporeal lithotripsy is higher for smaller stones, up to 90%, while extracorporeal lithotripsy is not recommended for larger stones.
1. Kidney stone: If the kidney stone is less than or equal to 2cm, and no stenosis at the lower end, extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy is preferred, and the success rate is about 90%. The success rate of extracorporeal lithotripsy is higher, but it is also affected by the individual’s obesity and nature of the stone, and if it fails, the person can choose the ureteral flexible lithotripsy.
2. Upper ureteral stone: If it is a positive upper ureteral stone less than or equal to 1.5cm, extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy is preferred, and the success rate can be up to 80%~90%. If the effect of more than 3 treatments is unsatisfactory, the patient can choose to poke into the renal pelvis with a ureteral rigid scope, and then use ureteral soft mirror lithotripsy.
3. Lower and middle ureteral stones: the success rate of extracorporeal lithotripsy for lower and middle ureteral stones is lower than that of ureteroscopic lithotripsy, so extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy is not generally used in clinical practice, and ureteroscopic lithotripsy is preferred for the lower and middle ureteral stones less than or equal to 2cm.
4. Bladder stones: because the bladder is a cavity organ, the stone is not fixed in the bladder, the effect of lithotripsy is poor, so the bladder stones are generally not extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy treatment, for less than 2-3cm bladder stones, preferred urethrocystoscopy lithotripsy lithotripsy.
After extracorporeal lithotripsy combined with stone dissolving drugs such as lithotripsy particles, urolithotripsy and other treatments, during the use of drugs, drink more water, to promote the urinary discharge, a multi-pronged approach to achieve better results, get rid of the disease as soon as possible.
