Whether or not vertebrobasilar insufficiency is dangerous is mainly related to the degree of vascular lesions. If the insufficiency is caused by simple vertebral artery sclerosis, it is usually not serious; if the vertebral artery is sclerotic and combined with plaque formation or severe stenosis of the blood vessels, it is usually more serious.
1. Less serious cases: Due to ageing, diet, genetic factors, etc., the vertebral basilar artery may develop hardening of the blood vessels, resulting in ischemic symptoms in the posterior circulation of the brain, which are manifested as dizziness, nausea, memory loss, etc. Most of the patients’ symptoms can be greatly improved by adjusting the lifestyle and diet, and combining with the treatment of circulatory and anticoagulant medications such as guillotine hydrochloride, aspirin, and so on.
2. Serious cases: If patients have vertebrobasilar atherosclerosis combined with intravascular plaque formation, it is necessary to cause patients to be vigilant, because plaque is usually an unstable factor, which is easy to cause dislodgement resulting in cerebral infarction, causing dysfunction of limbs and even endangering life; in addition, if serious stenosis of vertebrobasilar artery occurs, it may also lead to the emergence of ischemic strokes.
If the diagnosis of vertebrobasilar insufficiency is confirmed, it is recommended to carry out standardized treatment as soon as possible to reduce the adverse effects of the disease. All of the above medications should be used under the guidance of a doctor, avoid self-medication.
