Infertility, difficulty in urination, and various complications may occur in the later stages of untreated gonorrhea.
1. Infertility: If gonorrhea is not treated in time, it will lead to epididymitis, with epididymal pressure and pain, swelling, and may be accompanied by fever. If bilateral epididymitis, it often leads to obstruction of epididymal duct and vas deferens, resulting in infertility.
2. Difficulty in urination: retrograde infection of gonococcus may lead to urethral stenosis, which will gradually lead to poor urination.
3. Various complications: male gonorrhea can often be complicated by urethral adenitis, periurethral tissue inflammation and abscess, prepuce adenitis, vasculitis, vesiculitis, epididymitis, syringomyelia, orchitis, prostatitis, glans circumcision and so on. In women, endometritis, salpingitis, pelvic inflammatory disease, perihepatitis, etc. can occur.
It is recommended that patients with gonorrhea seek medical attention in a timely manner and follow the doctor’s instructions for standardized treatment with medication to prevent the condition from worsening.
