What do you need to pay attention to when you have a polyp done

Generally speaking, after the removal of polyps, different matters need to be noted according to the different surgical methods of removal and the different benign and malignant nature of polyps. First, if the patient undergoes endoscopic polyp removal, within 2-3 days of removal, the patient should rest in bed as much as possible and eat a liquid diet such as thin porridge, noodles and milk, which is mainly used to prevent bleeding from the surgical wound. At the same time, the nature of the lesion of the polyp is closely observed. If the lesion is benign, the patient is advised to review the colonoscopy in 3-6 months. In case of malignant tumor, re-excision of the diseased intestinal canal and lymph node dissection combined with radiotherapy will be required. Second, if the patient’s polyps are large in size and cannot be removed directly under endoscopy, open surgery or minimally invasive laparoscopic treatment is often required. In this case, the local lymph nodes are usually cleared together, and the patient needs to rest in bed for about a week after surgery to strengthen the dressing change of the incision, and gradually resume the liquid diet after the patient has defecated and exhausted.
