Causes of bile duct cancer

The causative factors of cholangiocarcinoma are still unclear, and its causative factors may be closely related to various hepatobiliary diseases such as sclerosing cholangitis and hepatitis B virus infection. 1. Primary sclerosing cholangitis: primary sclerosing cholangitis is the most common risk factor for bile duct cancer in western countries, and its incidence is earlier, mostly seen in people in the age group of 30 to 50. Since the incidence of primary sclerosing cholangitis in China is lower than that in western countries, there are fewer related studies in China. 2. Hepatitis B virus: some researches have proved that hepatitis B virus (HBV) and hepatitis C virus (HCV) may be one of the reasons to induce cholangiocarcinoma. 3. Abnormal development of biliary system: including choledochal cyst, Caroli’s disease, abnormal pancreaticobiliary meridian, etc., which is also a risk factor of bile duct cancer. It is recommended to go to regular hospitals for consultation, follow the advice of specialists and take active treatment.
