Precautions after strabismus surgery

  Postoperative precautions for strabismus are as follows: 1. Ice packs can be applied within 48 hours after surgery to reduce pain and bleeding. Local antimicrobial eye drops and eye ointment should be applied after dressing change. Our hospital adopts absorbable sutures for surgery, which usually do not need to be removed. After surgery, continue to use local medication until 4 weeks after surgery.  2. Wash your hands before ordering eye drops.  3. Wash your face, hair and shower after surgery to avoid water in the eyes and prevent postoperative infection.  4. Minimize eye rotation and do not rub the eyes within 2 weeks after surgery.  5. Avoid spicy food for one month after surgery.  6. Avoid eye fatigue and rest moderately.  7. After surgery, there will be discomfort such as eye soreness, eye rotation difficulty, foreign body feeling in the eye, some may feel different degrees of eye pain or difficulty sleeping, the above phenomenon is a normal reaction after surgery, its severity and duration varies from person to person, generally 2-5 days can be relieved, no need to worry too much.  8. If you feel other special conditions such as severe eye pain, please inform the doctor and follow the medical prescription.
