Can I eat chili peppers while drinking Chinese medicine?

Taking Chinese medicine is generally not recommended to eat chili peppers. Chili pepper is hot in nature and has the effect of aiding Yang, and it can also invigorate blood circulation, remove blood stasis, and move Qi to tonify Yang. Many clinical diseases do not need to use chili peppers to help Yang, otherwise it will change the nature of the medicine and make the direction of treating the disease counterproductive. Chili pepper itself can cause abnormalities in gastrointestinal peristalsis, especially for the absorption of drugs, reducing the effectiveness of the treatment. Some patients have a weak stomach, and eating chili peppers can stimulate the gastric mucosa and induce gastritis, stomach discomfort, and even abdominal pain. Some patients need to conservatively replenish yin without so much as helping yang, and eating chili peppers will cause the body to sweat and lead to a large consumption of yin energy. This aggravates the patient’s disease and does not do any good to treat the patient’s disease.
