Order of abdominal physical examination

The sequence of abdominal physical examination is as follows: I. The abdomen should be prepared before the examination. The patient should be allowed to lie flat on the examination bed, fully expose the abdomen, curl up the legs, breathe smoothly and relax the abdominal muscles. Second, before conducting the abdominal examination, it should be understood that the order of abdominal examination is different from the order of chest examination. The order of chest examination is in accordance with the order of vision, touch, percussion and hearing, while abdominal examination should be performed in accordance with the order of vision, hearing, percussion and touch. The abdominal examination must advance the auscultation in order to hear the accurate intestinal sounds so that other examinations do not interfere with intestinal peristalsis and cause abnormal intestinal sounds. Visual examination is to observe the shape and symmetry of the abdomen. Auscultation is mainly to listen to abdominal bowel sounds and vascular murmurs; percussion is to check whether there is ascites and other conditions; palpation is to check whether there is a mass in the abdominal wall, whether there is pressure pain and other conditions.
