Children may have no side effects from rabies vaccination, or they may experience adverse reactions such as transient malaise. The safety and efficacy of rabies vaccines have been proven and rabies vaccines are usually very safe for use in children. Whether or not rabies vaccination causes side effects in children is highly dependent on the physical condition of the child, and some vaccinated individuals will not experience any adverse effects. Some children will have localized or (and) systemic adverse reactions after vaccination. Localized adverse reactions include redness, swelling, pain, itching, and hard nodules at the site of vaccination. Systemic adverse reactions may include mild fever, muscle aches, depression, mild diarrhea, etc. Usually, the adverse reactions subside within a few days.
