Zuo Jin Wan is mainly composed of Rhizoma Coptidis and Cornu Cervi Pantotrichum, which has the efficacy of diarrhea, harmonizing the stomach, detoxifying the liver and relieving pain. It can be used for the pain in the epigastrium and coeliac region, dislike of hot beverages, bitterness in the mouth, noisiness (the stomach has a sensation similar to hunger, emptiness with burning heat), and vomiting of acid caused by the liver-fire offense of the stomach. It is not suitable for those with cold spleen and stomach.
The main symptom of acid vomiting is the flooding of acid water in the stomach. If the TCM diagnosis belongs to the liver fire in the stomach syndrome, Zuo Jin Wan can be used for treatment. However, there are other types of acid vomiting, such as food accumulation (indigestion of food and its accumulation in the stomach), and spleen and stomach deficiency and cold, etc., and the use of Zuojin Wan will not be able to achieve the therapeutic effect. The use of Zuojin Wan is not effective. It should be used appropriately under the guidance of a doctor.
