Potassium chloride extended-release tablets replenish potassium ions in the body. Potassium ions have the effect of participating in the metabolism of substances and maintaining the excitability and conductivity of nerves and muscles. The drug can be used for the prevention and treatment of hyperkalemia. Symptoms associated with hyperkalemia such as weakness, dyspnea, arrhythmia, conduction block, cardiac arrest, and side effects such as vomiting, abdominal pain, and rash can be experienced after the drug is administered. The whole tablet should be taken orally, not crushed or chewed. Blood potassium and kidney function should be tested before and during use. Use with caution in the following conditions: metabolic acidosis with oliguria; acute dehydration; severe hemolysis; familial periodic paralysis; extensive burns; severe or chronic diarrhea; conduction-blocking arrhythmia; chronic gastritis, gastrointestinal obstruction, ulcerative enteritis, etc.; 24 hours after major surgery; diminished adrenocortical function; congenital adrenocortical hyperplasia with insufficient secretion of saline corticosteroid. It is contraindicated in the following conditions: hyperkalemia; taking potassium-preserving diuretics; acute and chronic renal insufficiency; hypersensitivity to the drug.
