Can nasopharyngeal carcinoma be cured?

Nasopharyngeal cancer is a malignant tumor occurring in the nasopharynx, accounting for the first place in the incidence of head and neck tumors. Due to the deep location of the nasopharynx, the early symptoms of nasopharyngeal cancer are not typical and easy to be misdiagnosed and missed.

1.Nasal symptoms: Blood in the snot may appear in the early stage, which may be intermittent. Unilateral or bilateral nasal congestion which is progressively aggravated may also appear.

2.Ear symptoms: unilateral tinnitus, ear stuffiness, etc.

3.Headache: intermittent in the early stage, and persistent severe headache with fixed location when the disease worsens.

4. Swollen lymph nodes in the neck: about 60% of the patients have swollen lymph nodes as the first symptom.

Because of its special location, nasopharyngeal carcinoma is often unable to be treated surgically, but because of its high sensitivity to radiation, radiation therapy has become the preferred treatment for nasopharyngeal carcinoma.

Therefore, when the above symptoms appear, it is necessary to go to the hospital in time for early detection and early treatment, so as to improve the survival rate.
