Dizziness may be caused by otolithiasis, Meniere’s disease, vertebral artery cervical spondylosis and other factors when lying down.
1. Otolithiasis: dizziness or vertigo can be induced when the position of the head movement changes, and some patients can be manifested as dizziness from the standing position to the lying position, and will be accompanied by nausea, vomiting and other symptoms.
2. Vertebral artery-type cervical spondylosis: This disease is mainly related to degenerative changes in the cervical intervertebral discs, and improper sleeping posture, cold neck, and prolonged bowing of the head are the triggering factors of vertebral artery-type cervical spondylosis. Clinical symptoms are mainly characterized by episodic dizziness, which is related to neck twisting and rapid changes in body position, so some patients will experience dizziness as soon as they lie down.
3. Ménière’s disease: Ménière’s disease is caused by mechanical obstruction of the endolymphatic ducts, impaired lymphatic absorption, and ischemia of the inner ear. Patients will have vertigo, hearing loss, tinnitus, ear stuffiness, etc. Vertigo symptoms will be aggravated when the position changes, and patients may have the performance of dizziness when lying down.
