Atorvastatin has the effect of lowering plasma cholesterol and lipoprotein levels. Atorvastatin is mainly used in the treatment of hypercholesterolemia and coronary heart disease. Atorvastatin belongs to the hydroxymethylglutarate monoacyl coenzyme A reductase inhibitors, competitive inhibitors. Its mechanism of action is to inhibit hepatic hydroxymethylglutarate monoacyl-coenzyme A reductase and cholesterol synthesis and reduce plasma cholesterol and lipoprotein levels. Adverse effects such as liver enzyme abnormalities, rhabdomyolysis and myopathy may occur with the use of this drug, and prompt discontinuation of the drug and medical attention are recommended. It is contraindicated in women with active liver disease, known hypersensitivity to any of the components of the product, pregnancy, as well as lactation.
