How long does it take for cirrhosis to progress to ascites in the early stages of the disease?

It may take 1~10 years or even longer for cirrhosis to develop into ascites in the early stage, which is related to whether it is actively treated or not as well as dietary and living habits.
In the early stage of cirrhosis, if no attention is paid to it, no medication is given, and you often eat high cholesterol food, drink a lot of alcohol, and often stay up late, it may take 1~3 years to develop into hepatic ascites.
In the early stage of cirrhosis, if liver-protecting treatments are actively given, such as reduced glutathione, polyenyl phosphatidylcholine, silymarin preparation, etc., and if the diet is light and the work and rest are regular, it may take 5~10 years or even longer before ascites develops.
Early stage of cirrhosis is recommended to consult a doctor as early as possible, and follow the doctor’s instructions for treatment to slow down further progress of the disease.
