The gallbladder is mainly located in the upper right abdomen of the body, in the gallbladder fossa of the liver, and its main function is to store and concentrate bile. The size of the gallbladder is 8-12cm long and 3-5cm wide. Clinically, the size of a child’s gallbladder indicates that the gallbladder may have atrophied, and the most common cause of gallbladder atrophy is gallbladder stones, which induce cholecystitis, and the inflammation repeatedly stimulates fibrosis, which may lead to gallbladder atrophy after a long time. Gallbladder atrophy has the risk of cancer. Therefore, if gallbladder atrophy is clinically indicated for surgery, it is recommended to perform surgical treatment, which is to remove the gallbladder laparoscopically.
