What to do if you have a lot of discharge after perianal abscess surgery

If there is much secretion after perianal abscess surgery, it is generally recommended to place drainage strips to drain the pus, and at the same time, thoroughly clean the wound and change the medicine to prevent false healing of the wound.

If there is a small amount of secretion after perianal abscess surgery, it is generally a normal phenomenon. If there is an increase in secretion for a long time, and the trend is increasing, it is considered to be caused by secondary infection of the wound. Therefore, it is generally recommended that a drainage strip be placed in the abscess cavity during dressing changes to promote the drainage of pus on the one hand, and to prevent false healing on the other.

It should be noted that if the wound has been false healing, the wound should be incised again to clean up the necrotic tissue on the wound; keep the wound clean after surgery, fumigate and sitz bath 1~2 times a day, and change the drainage strip every day to keep the drainage smooth; pay attention to the light diet and avoid spicy and stimulating food.

After the operation of perianal abscess, it is recommended that patients should consult the doctor in time if they have any discomfort, and choose the appropriate treatment under the doctor’s guidance to avoid delaying the condition.
