Does it matter if you only got the first two rabies shots?

The rabies vaccine is administered according to a formalized procedure, which generally involves five injections on days 0, 3, 7, 14 and 28. If all of these shots are given, the immune system will have sufficient levels of rabies antibodies to last for more than a year. If only two injections are given, it is likely that the corresponding antibody levels will not have reached a protective level. Because the normal five injections produce rabies antibodies on day 7 or 14, two injections, on days 0 and 3, will not yet produce effective protection in the general population. Therefore, there is little difference between rabies vaccination with only two injections and no rabies vaccination.
