Cancer patients should focus on recovery

Cancer patients should pay attention to recovery Posted by: Lin Hongsheng (2012-03-20 22:53:54)Reprinted from Prof. Lin Hongsheng’s blog I have been practicing medicine for nearly forty years, and I have encountered a wide variety of cancer patients and experienced countless touching stories in my clinical work. I have encountered various kinds of cancer patients in my clinical work and experienced countless touching stories. What I feel most deeply from cancer patients is that the results may be very different if you treat cancer in a different mindset and in a different way. As medical workers, we always hope to do our best to prolong the lives of patients, and at the same time, we hope not only to let cancer patients live, but also to live with dignity and quality! Liu Jie, Department of Oncology, Guang’anmen Hospital, China Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine (CATCM) When treating cancer patients, I sometimes say to patients in this way, “I will manage half of your disease, and you will manage half of it.” The patient may find it strange to hear this, “It is hard for me to register with a specialist in the hope that you can help me to get well, how can I manage only half of it?” Objectively speaking, as a doctor, we can do for the patient is to do their duty to see the patient to determine when to review and the next step in the treatment program, the vast majority of the work is centered on treatment. On the other hand, as patients, how to organize their life after cancer, how to manage their emotions, how to deal with psychological problems in different stages of treatment, dietary problems, exercise problems, etc., many problems often need to be adjusted and faced by patients on their own. The short contact with doctors in outpatient clinics can only provide some guidance for patients, but the real implementation of these suggestions in their own recovery life requires the subjective efforts and objective practice of patients. This requires patients to first understand the concept and meaning of cancer rehabilitation, then learn some methods, and put them into practice and stick to them. Some patients and friends think that after the surgery is done, radiotherapy and chemotherapy are over, and there is no more tumor in the review, and when the side effects slowly subside, physical strength is restored, and the appetite is good, the body will naturally recover. In fact, the end of western medical treatment only means that part of the comprehensive treatment has been completed; and physical recovery is only one of the contents of cancer recovery. Only the perfect combination of effective comprehensive treatment and cancer recovery is the perfect treatment. Now that I have opened a microblog and a blog, I think I can have more opportunities and methods to talk about cancer prevention, treatment and rehabilitation with my friends and family members, introduce to you some general knowledge of Chinese medicine treatment and Chinese medicine comprehensive rehabilitation methods, and help patients to set up a correct concept of rehabilitation. Cancer rehabilitation is a discipline and an art, which requires doctors, patients and family members to work together with love, wisdom and perseverance! I believe that on the road of cancer rehabilitation, if there is payment, there will be harvest. Let’s pay attention to cancer rehabilitation together, and work hand in hand towards a healthy road!
