Because of the late start of rheumatoid surgery in China, our rheumatoid arthritis patients still face some more difficult realities than those in developed countries, mainly: ① Most patients have multiple joint deformities, and some patients have almost no joint that is not disabled, which poses the problem to the operator of which joint to start the surgery first? ② The deformity is severe and the local condition is poor. Due to the lack of appropriate treatment and correct postural guidance, the deformity of the patient often exceeds the indications for conventional surgery. Long-term bed rest makes the bone severely osteoporotic and muscle disuse atrophy, which brings unexpected difficulties to the surgery; ③ Poor economic conditions, patients often cannot afford to undergo multiple surgeries, so the operator is required to make the maximum functional improvement through the minimum number of surgeries. In recent years, Henan Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine has successfully carried out bilateral hip, bilateral knee and ipsilateral hip and knee joints, relieving the pain of many rheumatoid arthritis patients and enabling them to go back to work.
