How soon can I walk with a comminuted tibial plateau fracture?

A comminuted fracture of the tibial plateau generally takes at least three months to return to walking. If the fracture is significantly collapsed and displaced, internal fixation with an incision and plate screw should be considered. If there is no significant collapse and displacement of the tibial plateau comminuted fracture, conservative treatment with plaster fixation can be chosen. If the fracture is not significantly collapsed or displaced, you can choose to fix the fracture in a cast. Avoid walking blindly with weight. Premature weight-bearing may cause fracture collapse or significant separation and displacement, resulting in severe joint unevenness, which may leave serious sequelae, such as traumatic osteoarthritis that prevents normal walking of the knee joint.
