Sports Medicine Tips

What is a sports injury? The bones are the human scaffolding, the joints are the movement hubs, the muscles are the power system, and the ligaments are the stabilizers and connectors, these constitute a simple movement system, and an injury involving these parts, we call it a sports injury. Such as climbing, walking for a long time, playing football, soccer and other sports lead to muscle, ligament, cartilage and joint pain. It involves joints such as shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip, knee and ankle. What is the difference between ligaments and tendons? Ligaments are the connections between bone and bone that maintain the stability of the joint. Tendons are the connection between muscle and bone, an extension of the muscle, and form part of the power system. Anterior Cruciate Ligament of the Knee Achilles Tendon Meniscus and Cartilage The meniscus is a fibrous cartilage plate located in the knee joint, whose main functions are: (1) stabilizing the knee joint; (2) transmitting load forces to the knee joint; (3) promoting intra-articular nutrition; and (4) cushioning shock and protecting articular cartilage. It is easily damaged in flexion and rotation position, and the damaged meniscus is prone to joint pain and cartilage damage. Cartilage is the surface structure covering the end of the bone. With age, cartilage cells apoptosis, easy to degenerate, damaged is not easy to repair, and eventually lead to changes such as osteophytes.
