How should I prevent hepatitis C?

Viral hepatitis C (“hepatitis C”) is an infectious disease caused by hepatitis C virus (HCV), which is transmitted mainly by blood and body fluids, and is endemic worldwide. China is a moderately endemic area for hepatitis C. The results of a survey in 1992 showed that there were about 40 million people infected with HCV. Hepatitis C has two outstanding features: first, the early symptoms of patients are not obvious, the infected person is likely to have no weakness, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting and other common symptoms of hepatitis, without the relevant laboratory tests to find out that they have hepatitis C; second, it is particularly easy to develop chronic liver disease, according to statistics, about 75-85% of acute hepatitis C can progress to chronic, even cirrhosis and liver cancer. So how should you do to prevent hepatitis C? Six things should be done to prevent hepatitis C: 1. Promote knowledge about prevention, screening and treatment of hepatitis C to the general public, medical personnel and government personnel in the hope that people from all walks of life will recognize the seriousness of hepatitis C and carry out a universal preventive health program. 2. Promote blood donation without compensation and refuse unclean blood use: Health units should ensure the quality and safety of clinical blood and blood products, and collect and supply blood in strict accordance with national standards. 3.People who need surgery, hemodialysis, injection, dental treatment, endoscopy (gastroscopy, enteroscopy, esophagoscopy, bronchoscopy, etc.) examination, childbirth, beauty and other services should choose regular medical institutions for medical treatment. 4. Be clean, stay away from drugs, and refuse sexual promiscuity (including non-physical intercourse, multiple sexual partners, drug use by sexual partners and other unclean sexual behaviors). 5.If there are hepatitis C patients in the family, their personal utensils should be used exclusively and dishes should be disinfected by boiling regularly; if the sexual partner is infected with hepatitis C virus, please use condoms correctly during sex. 6. Women of childbearing age should have timely medical checkups. In principle, people infected with the hepatitis C virus should first undergo effective antiviral treatment before getting married and having children.
